From
the east ~ access via the A1
Either
~ From the A1 (Western Bypass at Newcastle upon Tyne), take
the A69 west, towards Hexham and Carlisle.
Or
~
From
the A1, take the A68, which is a more interesting road, passing
through little Durham villages and avoiding the Metro Centre at
Gateshead which can be very busy. The A68 the A69 near Corbridge,
at which point you turn left at the roundabout onto the A69 and
follow directions as below.
In
either case
~ once on the A69, continue straight on, going straight
over at the large Hexham roundabout. (It's 6 miles from here.)
~ Immediately after the roundabout, move into the right-hand lane
and take the next turning right (A 6079) signposted to Rothbury,
Bellingham, Acomb and Wall.
~ Drive through Acomb and Wall until you reach a crossroads (the
Military Road).
~ Go straight on and eventually you will come under a large railway
bridge and into the Hamlet of Chollerton.
~ Take the left fork to Barrasford (before the Parish Church).
~ Old Church Cottages is at the top of the hill on the right-hand
side.

From
the west ~ access via the M6
~ From the M6, take the Hexham turn off (junction 43) and follow
the A69 east through Haltwhistle and Haydon Bridge.
~ The next turn-off on the left-hand side (several miles after
Haydon Bridge) is the A 6079 signposted to Rothbury, Bellingham,
Acomb and Wall.
~
Drive through Acomb and Wall until you reach a crossroads (the
Military Road).
~ *Go straight on and eventually you will come under a large railway
bridge and into the Hamlet of Chollerton.
~ Take the left fork to Barrasford (before the Parish Church).
~ Old Church Cottages is at the top of the hill on the right-hand
side.
Alternately
take the A69 till you get to the turn off for Greenhead (B6318).
This is the old Military Road and follows the line of Hadrian's
Wall. It is a very pleasant straight, road and avoids the heavy
lorries on the A69.
At the roundabout at Chollerford, go to the lights and cross the
single track bridge. A couple of hundred yards up the hill at
the crossroads go left and follow the directions from * above.

the north ~ access via the
A68
~ Look
for the A6079 crossroads (Rothbury/ Hexham).
~ Turn right towards Hexham and follow this road for
2 miles into the Hamlet of CHOLLERTON.
~ Turn right towards Barrasford (after the Parish Church).
~ Old Church Cottages is at the top of the hill on the right-hand
side.
If
you are using Sat Nav ~
Most
Sat Nav systems will tell you that you have arrived at your destination
when you reach the Vicarage beside the Parish Church in Chollerton.
To find Old Chruch Cottages, simply continue up the hill towards
Barrasford - we are just at the top of the hill on the right-hand
side.
